I have the privilege of joining Oakland Elementary’s front office staff and being one of our school’s first face making myself personally responsible for filling our office with light and a warmth of hospitality. My goal is to serve as your “air traffic controller” for our school and work closely with our principals and teachers to keep them informed, equipped and supported to provide exceptional support and care to all our Oakland students, teachers, staff, parents and visitors. I also actively and passionately take on the role of Information and volunteer Coordinator. I enjoy supporting our school community in utilizing volunteerism to meet our staff and school needs. I love learning new things from all our amazing volunteers that we call family. Our Volunteers are a huge piece of our successful puzzle and we are truly grateful for all of them! As always I believe “Team Work, Makes our Dream Work!”

Oakland uses a positive behavior matrix that promotes student awareness in expected behaviors.  This matrix can be seen in every room, throughout the building, is described in our school handbook located in the front of each student's provided OWL planner, and builds off our character trait acronym (WISDOM) banners handing from our foyer ceiling.  Each desired trait is broken down to identify school related desired behaviors to create student understanding and awareness of expectations.  These indicators are also linked to Class Dojo, which is used not only by teachers but throughout the entire building by special area teachers, special service providers, support staff, and administrators to provide consistency for our students and with parent communication.  The six overarching categories/character traits that student friendly indicators are broken down for on the visual matrix that students are taught about and expected to strive for are:

  • Work Ethic
  • Integrity
  • Self-discipline
  • Determination
  • Optimism
  • Motivation
