I was born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and I’m a proud Michigan fan—GO BLUE! I love traveling, having fun, and ending the day cuddling with my sweet dog, Sophie. After following my childhood dream of moving to Tennessee, I’m thrilled to call it home. I hold a Master’s in Education from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Grand Valley State University. I believe every child deserves a safe, engaging space that nurtures curiosity, encourages risk-taking, and supports growth.

Every student has a HOOT Folder to help stay organized with daily papers and homework. Students bring it to school and home each day and share it with parents/guardians each night. Parents/guardians, please check for graded work and notes and encourage your child’s responsibility. This folder supports your student’s success all year.

Please feel free to reach out to me anytime through ParentSquare and/or email. I’m happy to answer questions and appreciate your support in your child’s learning!

At Oakland Elementary, we use a positive behavior matrix to promote student awareness and accountability in expected behaviors.  This matrix is displayed in every classroom, throughout the building, and outlined in the OES Student Handbook.

Our OWLS Matrix is designed to clearly define schoolwide expectations, helping students understand what positive choices look like in different settings.  These expectations are also linked to Class Dojo, which is consistently used by classroom teachers, special area teachers, support staff, and administrators to provide consistency for our students and with parent communication.

The four overarching student-friendly expectations are:

  1. O – Own Your Actions
  2. W – Work Hard Together
  3. L – Listen to Learn
  4. S – Stay Safe

These expectations are broken down, explicitly taught, and reinforced daily to help students succeed both in and out of the classroom.
